Over the past 40 years, even long before I moved to California, Big Sur has been one of my favorite destinations to visit. And I keep revisiting it again and again. It has remained remarkably unchanged (and undeveloped) over that period of time. Because of that, and it's raw, simple beauty, it has served as a retreat for many artists and writers, including the likes of Henry Miller and Jack Kerouac. I have found it to be a great place to spend quiet time and to find creative inspiration. The photos that follow are from my most recent visit, earlier this year.

Awakened by neighbors at Big Sur Lodge on my first morning.

Sea and sky and the rocky Big Sur coast...

Twisted tree provides food for thought...

Solitude in Big Sur...

A perfect place for self contemplation... for everyone.

Once again, another beautiful sunset in Big Sur...
